Money missing from pension fund

My company in their wisdom have decided to transfer via an independent financial advisor to change from Aviva to Aegon pension scheme.Basically they told us that if you dont like it tough.
Anyway so that the company can input into my pension scheme i stuck with them.I received some letter in December confirming what i would be putting intot he scheme along with my company.I queried this with Aegon as it did not involve the lump sum( £50,000) already in my pension fund.Aegon said that this will show up in the next correspondence.
Today i got home to find a letter from Aegon with my online activation account on.I phoned them up to find out my account number and to ask how much my plan was worth. The plan according to their computer did not have my lump sum in?
Does anyone know if their company has transferred pension providers before, does the money go in late or is it probably my company and IFA who has messed up?
Would i be able to claim compensation due to their incompetence.
Thanks in advance.

The other possibility is that the old money will be left where it is and only new money passed to the new provider. This is what happened when one of my employers changed pension schemes.0

Thanks for that Linton.i did not think it was possible to have two company pension schemes running at the same time.If my company is paying into the new one, is the original with the lump sum in frozen or can it still earn money if I am not adding to the scheme?0

No, it is not frozen, more deferred/paid up. the investments within can rise or fall and can earn dividends and growth.
Or you could transfer it elsewhere yourself.0
