The OH turns 30 in April and im in need of ideas. Im arranging a party, (inviting about 130 folk) the venue is booked (got it free) The dj will cost £130, im doing the food, so say £70.
Is that all i should do? What other ideas can you suggest? Just seems lame giving him a party lol
Thanks in advance.

What about balloons and decorations for the room?0

At my son's Naming Ceremony we did a quiz about him for the adults and for the kids, I made one of the centre pieces different and they had to find it. Also, pictures on the wall and people have to put them in age order.
A really cheap and nice centrepiece is draw '30' sketchily and scan into your comupter. Print out enough for three double sides per table and stick together with a wooden skewer in the middle. Add a little establishment like a star or button to each one to add some colour and pop them into a cheap vase (we used 10p Ikea ones).
For cheap balloons, just buy some in your colours and pop them on the dance floor once they're blown up, it looks as effective as having helium ones and only costs a few quid.
Sweet buffets are fun for both adults and kids, I made one for about £30 including the glass jars (Ikea again), paper bags and scoops. Now's a good time to buy up Christmas sweets that have UBD before next Christmas becuase they'll probably be 75%-90% off. It also means you don't need any other desserts!
Goodie bags are cute and fun for kids and big kids, stuff like the 10p packs of stickers and rubbers dotcomgiftshop have at the moment are perfect, in brown paper lunch bags, stapled up with a short piece of ribbon in your colour with one of the '30' designs printed off small.0 -
Also, if you haven't booked the DJ yet, we usually hire out a DJ's kit for about £50 and my hubby makes a Spotify playlist and hooks it up. Means you can have exactly what music you like, you can play little recorded messages for the birthday boy/girl and no annoying DJ chatter!0

What about a "This is your life" presentation? A friend of mine done this for her husbands 50th, she put a slideshow of pictures together and her brother in law done the commentary for it.0
