Problems with Freshweekends voucher - don't be fobbed off

Hi,

I just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else comes across this problem.

Last year I bought an Activity Superstore/Freshweekends voucher through Boots for a 2 night getaway.

In Aug 2012 I paid £20 to extend my voucher for 6 months until June 2013 (so originally the expiry as Dec 2012). I received a letter confirming this.

I rang today to redeem the voucher and they tell me that the voucher has been discontinued, and eventually they tell me that the error was with their computer system as it shouldn't have been processing extensions.

So... essentially they say that because I bought the voucher at half price (a deal at Boots) they are only obliged to offer me a 1:eek: night voucher instead! Also that they have the right to withdraw any offers at any time.

So I had a 2 night voucher, and didn't use it before Dec 2012 due to misleading information provided by them, and they thought the fair and right thing to do was offer a 1 night voucher instead, or charge me £90 difference to give me a 2 night voucher, a voucher that I should have still had in the first place!

I said excuse me Mr Activity Superstore, this is your mistake, please fix it. He just kept quoting the T's and C's. He also said I couldn't have a refund as they were offering me an alternative. Fuming, I came off of the phone.

I dug out the T's and C's where it says, 'if a suitable alternative cannot be found we will refund in full'. My partner called and spoke to someone who tried to convince us that a 1 night stay was a suitable alternative. He passed us to a supervisor who also tried to convince us of the same thing.

It took about half an hour of my partner saying, '1 night in the hotel and 1 night in the car is not a suitable alternative to 2 nights in the hotel' before he finally put us through to his manager who said, 'we can't offer you a 2 night voucher, so as there is no suitable alternative you can have your refund.' :TFINALLY.

So... if you are in this situation, don't give up and be fobbed off and let them deprive you of half of your hotel stay because of their mistake!

Seriously, I cannot believe it took so much effort and so many people before common sense finally prevailed! :rotfl:
