Rumiko Takahashi is one of Japan's most prolific manga artists, as well as being the best-selling female comics artist of all time. She's dabbled in several genres and is best known for creating fun, quirky stories and characters. InuYasha is her fourth major work, featuring a time travelling student named Kagome who finds herself pulled 500 years into the past by a demon. There she meets the half-demon InuYasha, and along with an assortment of other strange characters they embark on a quest to restore the mystical Jewel of Four Souls. An anime version of the story first aired in Japan in 2000 and ran for a total of 167 episodes.
