Wedding Venues SW London / Surrey

Hi there!

So me and my partner have been engaged 3 years now and have decided that we should finally start planning our wedding! Hooray :D

However we are looking to do a budget wedding and I will be doing a lot of it myself i.e. flowers, cupcakes, favours, etc etc as I love remaking, refurbing and just crafting generally so our immediate theme is going to vintage with elements of kitsch. We aren't your traditional couple when it comes to weddings, we are hoping to "festivalise" our wedding. As we are going to spend quite a substantial amount of money on a party it has to be something we'll both and what we believe our family & friends will enjoy!

We only started looking a week ago and we already have a barn, field and a water tower lined up as potential venues; the prices vary from £55ph or an entire week in a field for £1000. We've contacted quite a lot of local farmers but I wanted to check if there is anything we've missed. We are trying to keep it as "budget" as possible where the majority will probably be spent on the venue/marquee.

Can anyone recommend some places in SW London / Surrey (Sutton/Wallington/Carshalton/Guildford, etc etc)?

Also if anyone has any suggestions/recommendations for reasonable marquee companies/table suppliers/catering companies, that would be appreciated.

Thanks so much :o

I woul be tempted to avoi the marquee, as a fully fitted marquee (ours was for 65 people) cost us £2000- and we got a real bargain! If we were looking peak season it would have been 25% more, n we caught the company before they became VAT reg, so expect to add VAT to that.

If you want a bare bones marquee it will of course be cheaper (just tent & floor would be about £600 for us.) I would recommend our company, but they do South (west) England- and unless its out of season I imagine it would be too far...

U can usually hire the tables and chairs from the marquee people (it was just as cheap for us, and less hassle.) but that's is what pushes the price up.

Thanks for the reply! I will definitely look into that thank you! I've had a look at a couple of price lists already and I find them all a bit confusing i.e. how many lights do we actually need for the size we want etc. I think we'll expect around 40 people; it won't be a large wedding so I *hope* it wouldn't cost more than £1000...but here's hoping! Thanks for your feedback though, it's useful to know.
