Does anyone else remember fruit and veg having a class assigned to it. Class I would be more expensive that Class II, so why can't the supermarkets do that. Uniform stuff Class I, outside the parameters of uniformity Class II, misshapen so taking a chance Class III.Nil Illegitimi desperandum carborundum

Supermarket Basics fruit and veg was class II.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
I volunteer with a charity called FareShare and you wouldn't believe the amount of food we get given my supermarkets. Actually, none of it is wonky (because it's mostly from the big supermarkets which don't sell the wonky veg) but it's perfectly all right and if we weren't around it would just all be chucked - it's just dreadful.
We do also have farmers that give us produce that would be shredded up and put back in the ground, but it really does make me think every week when I do my shift how wasteful we all are.
Don't get me started on the companies that chuck away their products because of package relabelling... we get stuff all the time from big names that would normally landfill their products just because they've decided to change a logo or something. Perfectly good coffee/chocolate or whatever, all totally in date, but ditched because of a marketing change. Total Madness!0 -
Lets face it ... it all looks the same in your stomach folks.Surely??:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0

I would never have though that I had a problem with buying and eating misshapen fruit and veg. We have an allotment and eat the produce no matter what shape or size it is but find myself picking best looking things out of the loose veg if I do buy from the supermarket i just had not realised that I was doing it until I read some of the posts on here. Clever little blighters these supermarkets.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order
