Threatening Email from Egg

Got an email from Egg this morning (see below):
'We have received notification from the CCCS that you are preparing a debt management plan, and they have also provided us with your client reference number.
I need to make you aware that once your accounts fall into arrears they will be issued with Default Notices and then terminated after 28 days if not brought up to date. Any accepted reduced payment offer is still subject to default, but it means that your accounts will be kept with Egg, rather than being passed out to an external debt collection agency.'
This has really freaked me out - anyone recieve anything similar or have any advice on how to deal with this?
Thanks to everyone for their help and support I have got since using this forum

Its fairly standard that if you dont keep to the credit agreement then your account will be defaulted.
Assuming that you are indeed entering a DMP with CCCS then other of your creditors may well do the same thing.
They will probably pass the debt to a debt collction agency in due course.
There is no specific action you need to take.0 -
This is nothing to worry about. Egg defaulted us straight away, but accepted the CCCS offer and we havnt heard from them for months.Proud to be dealing with my debts :j

Oh my God - I am in such a panic right now because of this - thank you for reassuring me.0

I work for a debt counselling service (in the voluntary sector - no charges for people) and EGG are usually extremely good.
The default notice is standard, you would get one of those, regardless who have a credit agreement with, once you do not keep to the original terms of the agreement.
This default will then be registered on your credit file.
We find that once an offer is made to EGG, they usually accept the offer and then all goes quiet.I am a debt counsellor working in the voluntary sector - we don't charge our clients for the work we do!0 -
As far as Im aware it the creditors legal responsibility to send you a default notice (oh how I remember mine!) when you stop paying the required amount. If they were not to issue it they wouldnt be able to deal with the CCCS for less than the minimum anyhow. It really isnt anything to worry about.
The Default will stay on your credit record for 6 years and then drop off. If you are serious about getting out of debt then this shouldnt be a problem as you most likey would not want access to another credit card/Loan anyhow.

Thank for all your advice - there is no way as you rightly point out Crown that I would be wanting to get into any more debt. I have been living in a nightmare for the past six years and the stress and strain was getting too much for me. I only told my husband last week as I could not keep going any longer - I thought he was going to leave me but it turns out he thought I was having an affair cos of my strange behaviour - all sorted now and problems are much easier when you have support. Thanks again for all your great advice!!0
