After the eye watering quote I had for made to measure, I think I'm going to go down the ready made route as I only want plain cream, nothing fancy.
Laura Ashley have some full length ones in their sale reduced from £190 a pair to £95 I like but they are too long. I will need them taking up around 10 cms so they sit neatly without touching the floor.
Before I start calling around, what do you think I should expect to be charged as I have no idea?
4 curtains in total, they are 223cm wide and 229 cms drop, lined and I need to lose around 10 ish cms.
Many thanks

Can you not do them yourself? I tend to turn curtains up by hand if they need doing (by either cutting and re hemming from the bottom on thick curtains or just turning a thin hem up on itself).
Apparently a good place would not turn up from the bottom they remove the header tape and shorten from the top (which could well be more costly for a neater finish).

Doing it properly from the top would be a good five hours work. I charge £12 per hour (which is pretty reasonable around here) so looking at £60 to have it done professionally. Maybe phone around for a couple of quotes in your local area.Making magic with fabricLight travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.0

Thanks Meadows. I'm really not a competent sewer at all. I have done so myself in the past and the results weren't great so would rather pay to get a proper job done. Thanks for the link I don't think I could do it!
After a quote of £1300 for made to measure doing it this way and done properly far the cheaper way.0 -

I've had curtains like this and puddled them 'artistically' on the floor. Looked good and much cheaper.
If you do have them shortened, get them done from the top.0 -
Hi I do this for a living and expect to pay approx £1.75 per 30cm of width for lightweight curtains upto £2.25 per 30cm of width. This would be easiest taken up from the top but if you had any unusual heading like tab top or rings then expect to pay 50% more. Hope this helped xGrocery challenge June 2016
