My husband bought me this set for Christmas, it's a real bargain at £12.59, includes 6 extra large Tilda fat quarters, plus a lovely box, metal bobbins, 2 unpickers and a tape measure:

I'm tempted to get another one, as think the fat quarters are worth that on their own.0 -
Oops, accidentally spent £40, good job the credit card has almost tripped over...0

Thanks OP! This is a great find

I got a sewing machine for Christmas and have never used one before, does anyone have any recommendations for what to get to play around with? I was thinking of some FQs?
I don't really have anything in particular in mind to make, I just want to learn to use the machine first -thanks!0 -

100% cotton will be best to start with, and this will be pretty much most fat quarters. Think about whether you would like a guide for stitching a straight line, in which case a stripey fabric would be useful.0 -
I am about to place an order. Is Google Wallet a secure payment method? I have never come accross it before.Slimming world new starter 2/1/17

If you just want to play, why not go into a charity shop and pick up some old curtains? They are usually cotton or non-stretchy at least. You could have fun making little bags, or even large ones like the supermarket jute bags.0 -
Thanks for the suggestions! I would never have thought to check for 100% cotton (complete novice here!) and the charity shop is a great idea, I'll have a look when I'm next in town and will order some FQs in the meantime.0

I have used this method of payment several times with no problem.0 -
My order came from Jackie's Fabrics today and I am so pleased with it. I got 19 fat quarters, 3 reels of cotton, a cat panel, big piece of material, gift bag and box plus quilt tags for under £40.
Particularly pleased with the mixed set of FQs, thought I might end up with designs I didn't like, but like nearly all of them. One I wouldn't have chosen but might swap that with someone. Now just have to stop myself buying more until I've used up some of my stash.0
