Making an Art Folder/Portfolio

My eldest Daughter has really gotten into drawing this last 12 months and she is really very good.
She got a quite expensive art set for Christmas (including easle and mannequin) and her artwork since then has been fantastic, but she has nowhere to store it.
I remember when I was at school in the Art Club we made a portfolio from stiff cardboard and used some kind of webbing/fabric tape to make the spine. It was then finished off with handles amde from string and the cardboard covered with fabric or fancy wrapping paper.
I was going to buy one of those large plastic folders for her but the prices are rediculous.
Can anyone advise where I might find plans on how to make such a folder, or advise what the tape/webbing that was used for the spine of the folder may have been?
Thanks

[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

there are a few instructions on here, don't know if any of them are of use http://www.ehow.com/how_5717511_construct-art-portfolio-container.html I should think wiki & youtube would have some too.
We bought one of ours from a 2nd sale at a local high school but I have noticed them before on Freegle/freecycyle - might be worth checking that & even putting on a Wanted ad.0 -
This is a bit of a long shot, but it might be worth checking out your local colleges, maybe towards the end of the academic year? The college I used to go to had a pile of used portfolios up for grabs that former students had dumped there as they no longer needed them. They were about to be binned! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
