Missing Clinique but can't justify cost

Hi, thanks for your replies. I don't use the Clinique soap and toner or the moisturiser, I like the cream cleanser, the tinted moisturiser and the lipstick and eyeliner, all the rest I like from No7 or Body Shop.
If it's only selected items and it genuinely makes you feel better about how you look, does that not justify the price. Could you cut back in another area to pay for it. So for example is the Clinique worth sacrificing something else for - magazines, or coffess or maybe not get that new top?0 -

Did ok with Olay then in a bid to cut costs even further tried various cheapies, Superdrug, Aldi etc.
A couple of months ago I thought Oh s*d it I'll go back to Clinique. I have been so disappointed. Either it's not as good as it was or my skin as changed.
I am actually a trained beauty therapist and we were taught that the cleansing bars etc and clarifying lotions were quite harsh, but that the moisturisers were ok. I trained using Dermolgica products which were gorgeous and did wonders for my skin. Unfortunately they are not cheap.
I have been considering trying them out and have been looking on-line to see if I can get them a bit cheaper.
However, before investing in Dermoligica I thought that once I've finished the Clinique I might just give Olay a go first.0 -
I love Clinique mascara so I save up all my Boots points to buy it. And I love the new Liz Earle foundation which isn't cheap. My favourite moisturiser is Dermalogica, its really expensive but after trying lots of cheaper moisturisers nothing suited my skin as well.
But I have found cheaper alternatives to other things for instance I swapped Liz Earle Cleanser for Superdrug hot cloth cleanser, Liz Earle toner for Simple toner and I buy Olay Regnerist Serum from Amazon where its really cheap.
If you love a product and it makes you feel better and there is a way you can afford it than I don't see why you should deprive yourself. I don't have takeaways, take packed lunches to work, never buy magazines or takeaway coffees and haven't had a holiday for years but using products that make me feel good is something that I just can't give up!0 -
I'm with you on this one. Love love love Clinique. All if it lol. BUT budget says I now have to use something more affordable. I have been using boots no7 and tbh it's just as good once you get the right product for you skin type. It took a few goes but I'm finally there and loving it. I am starting to get to the the end of the Clinique body polish which I will miss but my bank balance is def grateful for the change :-)No buying toiletries in 2013:cool:0

Which No7 products do you use? Do you use their make up too? I find that the Beautiful Skin range is slightly scented so I try and stick to the essential moisture range which isn't but I did get some of the Beautiful Skin melting gel cleanser a few months ago with a voucher and its not irritating my skin and seems OK but its nearly used up now. I am using the basic moisturiser with no scent in. In the evenings I just use face wipes, No7 ones are OK with the vouchers which make them cheaper.
As for the make up I do like the tinted moisturier and essentially natural foundation, also the lipsticks are nice.
Still like Clinique though and do get tempted but they never have vouchers or money off their products, only the gift with purchase now and again but you have to spend about £40 to get that and often there are trial sizes of things in the gift that you don't use. I am talking myself out of it now0 -
Have you shopped around online/eBay to look for better prices on your favourite products?0

Hi
Similar story here.I used to use clinique 3 step malarkey together with eye cream, then moisture surge, some lippy and mascara. I've never tried their foundations. Due to finances the only clinique product I still use is the anti blemish bar, I use this everyday to wash my face. Imo it agrees with my skin and it does last ages. But that's it. Otherwise I use Bourjois or loreal foundation, max factor mascara and eyeshadow. I also have the Collection 2000 mineral powder which I also like. For moisturiser I use superdrug hydrating one for dehydrated skin, loreal eye cream, simple or vaseline body lotion. To be honest I'll give anything a try !
After reading comments here I may try some Olay again the next time I need some skin care. I used it years ago but changed as I found it wasn't moisturising enough for me.

I've been using protect and perfect day and night cream which is really good compared to some of the others I have tried from no7. Their blue bottled eye make up remover is brill and with the vouchers only works out a few quid as well. One product I can't live without in this weather I'd there beautiful skin dry skin rescue in a tube. A small bit goes a long way and is great all over on dry patches. I'm also getting my head around the foundation which I preferred before they just recently bought out the new system but have a couple of half used tubes which will last a while before I have the trauma of finding another to match my skin type xNo buying toiletries in 2013:cool:0
