Restructuring in the NHS

Hi
I work as a Physio Assistant in an NHS hospital and my department is being restructured. One of the only two jobs suitable for me is a Band Two post - I am currently at the top of Band Three.
Does anyone know if, should I be successful at getting this new post (we all have to reapply), would I go in at the bottom of Band Two or at the top, as I am at the top of my band at the moment, have done the work before and will have been in the Trust for 19 years on Feb 14th?
thanks

It will be the top of the band, as you've met the requirements for service (top of band 2 I believe is currently 8 years continuous service). The Agenda for Change guidelines are available on the internet (relevant parts here, sorry it's heavy going) or from HR and should help to illuminate this for you.
I'm sorry you're in the position and hope you're getting the support you need :grouphug: Are you a member of a union? They may be able to assist. Also please bear in mind that most trusts will consider internal applicants who need to move due to 'restructuring' before external applicants.0 -
thanks Amy
I'm afraid they will try to wriggle out of it as it's a new post. It's a clerical job that all the Band Threes used to do but now they want somebody to just do that task and pay them Band Two wages.
I just don't want them to shaft me and drop me to the bottom of the band because I have done that work for over eight years but not in that role (as it didn't exist).
Thanks for your help

As I understand it, and certainly how it works in our trust, is that if your job is made obsolete due to restructuring, you will be entitled to start on the same pay 'spine' that you would have been on if you'd started in the new job, IYSWIM.0
