Searched my name yesterday and found I'd won a watch on the 17th
December on f/b.
Pm'd the company and found out this morning someone has tried to claim my prize via email.
Thankfully prize had not been sent yet so haven't lost out.:D
Feel quite angry though, sending bad comping karma to the cheat lol.

I see the Keen Europe advent has just listed names asking people to email them to claim. So what's the point of putting in your name and address/email in the entry for them to do that?0

You are absolutely right to be angry. If it was me, I think I would contact the police. It is an attempt at fraud after all. The company should be able to pass on the details to the police. Glad you got to them in time to get your prize though. Well doneI am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apology
THIS IS ME!
When you talk down to others it says more about you than them.0 -
I remember hearing about people doing this a while ago.
I am disgusted that some people out there are so bloody greedy!0 -
I really wish that when this happened, or a company just names a winner and asks them to contact them by email, that people would point out the facebook rules about companies having to use an app for any contest as it would stop this happening. If the company uses an app then they have an email address to contact the winner directly.
Glad you're going to get your prize though but how does the company know that you are not pretending to me 'you' too?!2008: £783.12 - 2009: £6,401.15 - 2010: £4,230.61 - 2011: £8720 - 2012: £2,041.89
2013: £134.960 -
God that's awful! I never thought of that! Going to be extra alert now.
At least the lovely 'comping' community have pages like The Winners Circle, kind of restores faith in me haha.Every Saint has a past. Ever Sinner has a future.0 -
How awful that someone would stoop so low as to try and claim your prize - I'm shocked that is happens more frequently too.
I wouldn't dream of doing that in a million years, some people have no conscience.

I won a facebook comp this week and was asked via their page to email them my details, which I did, they then emailed back asking me to post a code on my facebook wall so they could verify I was the rightful winner and that the facebook page was mine, sad it has come to this, but it's an excellent way to prove the person is who they claim they are.I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.
