Quick question

Options
I'm in the lucky position not to have any charges to claim back but a Bosnian friend has just received a letter from Barclays.

The local water company's DD 'bounced' as there were in sufficient funds. They tried to take £35.40. Because of this they are charging her £35 admin  Is this illegal charge or does it have to be more han the amount that they were trying to take?

Thanks!

Catt xx

    Hey Catt

It isn't illegal because it hasn't been tested in court yet. It is unfair and should be reclaimed. The charge is not related to the size of the payment missed and is in relation to the cost of the process of refusing payment. So a polite letter pointing out that the charge is unreasonable and demanding it's refund would be a starting point and if they refuse follow up with a second claim threatening small claims action, and see what happens.

    Best wishes

    MM

That's fab - sorry for my misuse of 'illegal' but I meant unfair.

Thank you for your reply :)

Defo reclaim it. They will pay up. Look at the 35K someone got back recently.
