Help with ironing board cover please...

Good afternoon Old Stylers! I'm hoping you'll have some advice to save me buying a new ironing board.
My rather old ironing board is still working well, but desperately needs a new cover. The section where you keep the iron is a continuation of the board, so it looks a bit like a solid metal surfboard with an inset for the iron.
Searched the internet, but all the covers now wrap over the entire ironing surface (which does seem much more sensible) but mine just lies flat across the board at the iron end.
It's a smallish ironing surface 91 x 33 cms 36 x 13 ins.
Any ideas where to find a cover?
Or would it be more sensible to buy one of these new mesh ironing boards?

in days when money was too short to even contemplate buying a new cover, I improvised with a peice of old blanket covered by a sheet which I, er, stapled together underneath the board. My nan used to actually sew the peices together using that tough waxed cotton - but the stapler was easier!0

My ironing board is like yours. But I now use and have always used the ones which wrap over the entire surface as you say above.
They work just fine, I've had a few over the years. They are elasticated so they do fit. I've just checked mine and I have the previous two still on over the new one.
The old two do look abit skanky :rotfl:
I wouldn't be buying a new one any time soon. They are expensive :eek:0 -

Linda I begrudge buying a new one when the old one is fine!
So does the elasticated bit just lay across the top of the board? I was having trouble figuring out how to fasten that end so it didn't just wander down the board all the time
