Hello viewers. I posted this in another section as a general moan but realise it probably should have gone here.
I decided this week that I have so much time on my hands not going to the pub anymore I may as well join a gym and spend the same amount of time there.
I hate direct debits. You may hate spiders or high bridges but I hate direct debits. I do not have any. I do not give my card details to anyone.
So this week I have been a wandering around the various gyms here, of which there are many seeing what they offer.
The nearest one to me, big place, said its DD payment only £17.99 a month
Next one, £10.99 and DD only.
3rd one, built into the YMCA building and thus frequented by recovering addicts and homeless types
, said cash would be fine £17.50 in advance each month. I nearly joined but thought, not yet, one more to try within walking range.
So I went there today and was given the tour, very nice indeed. 3 levels of membership to choose from and guess what? Yep, all DD only. I was a bit miffed so decided to have a little gentle rant at the guy showing me around. I said I wanted to pay cash only and it wasn't fair that people cant have that option.
So off he went to see the manager, I wasn't holding out a lot of hope and was ready to walk back to the YMCA and sign up.
Anyway, success, The manager said if I coughed up £149 for the whole year up front I could pay with money. :j
Moral of the story, don't give up your dreams, they can come true if you stay true to them.
I hope to get as fit as this bloke maybe even a bit fitter.

The gym I go to has an option to pay the full year in advance too, and that can be paid by cash, cheque or card. There's a modest discount for doing this, but nothing significant. However, since I live in London you're talking over 400 for the year (and that's a cheap gym) so I'd personally rather keep hold of the money and pay by DD. Each to their own though.
I can see why gyms don't want people paying by cash every month though... it would be quite cumbersome handling it all.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0
