Lgps retire at 55 best of last 3 years salary

I may have the opportunity to retire due to redundancy, and I understand my pension would be based on the best of my last 3 years salary. My questions are as follows:

1. If my salary in previous years was paid when I was less than 55 would it still be eligible?
2. My salary has remained static for nearly 3 years therefore if I choose an earlier year would I benefit from an uprating for cpi/rpi inflation?
3. Do the 3 preceding salary years date from the date when I leave service or are they linked to the local gov year. I.e April - March?

3. The "year" is based on when you leave. (but see below)

The last 2 are different if you had a pay reduction, typically as an alternative to redundancy, in the last 10 years of employment & received a "certificate of protection"
