Early Discharge

On or round the 21 Nov from my RTLU unit i received a ED letter stating all enquiries had been concluded and it was the OR opinion to pursue ED. It advised creditors would be notified and if no objection within 28 days then the case would be passed in the court and then i would be notified.

In the pack - i had to complete a very basic I & E and give my work details inc payroll details.

will the OR write to my employers as i dont want them to and how long should this ED take, im aware we have had xmas and NY but im more concerned about my employer finding out.

I deliberately chose my time to go BR so i didnt get a nil tax code ie mid march 2012 . I currently dont have a IPA

Any opinions greatfully received.

  • Why do they ask for all of that then, and not ask for evidences ie payslips, do you think it is likley ED will come through shortly. Im to nervous to ring them.
I also have a negative income not a lot but for household insurance etc, my father pays that , but i didnt show a negative just an equal to on the I & E. and i was way below the average budget. i have survived by the grace of god and handouts for food etc.

I always thought it was so the OR could check with the tax bods how much tax you have paid and if it coresponds with any NTIPA's etc.

I was told it's because the IPOQ is a standard form that is used for an I&E review in all circumstances where the BR's circumstances have changed. That includes cases where the BR's income/circumstances have changed, which may include a change of employment, so the form just asks all those details from scratch for the records.

I suppose it's feasible that if the OR is very sceptical about the income detail you put that they might write to the employer. Can't say I have EVER heard on here of that happening to anyone though......
