Does any one know if there is a minimum mileage allowance companies pay for people who use their own cars for work?
I use my own car for work and the company only pay 22p per mile, ( this didn't alter when fuel prices rocketed last year to £1 a gallon.)
I keep asking at work if this is going to be reviewed but keep getting fobbed off!

there is no minimum I'm afraid. It's at the companies discretion what amount, if any, is paid.
What you need to do is claim the difference back in tax relief from HMRC.
Contact them and request a P87. Complete it and return it with your P60. That should be sufficient.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

As above - you can claim 40p per mile for the first 10,000 miles then 25p per mile thereafter. Don't forget you can also claim an additional 5p per mile for each passenger carried - it all adds up. Also if you havent already I would think about backdating the claim - just write a letter to the local tax office outlining your business miles travelled and the mileage allowance that you received in each tax year and ask them to work out the overpaid tax.0
