Best frozen mince

Hi
I want to do some batch cooking, mainly chilli, sheperds pie, bolognese.I was wondering which frozen mince you would recommend.I usually buy fresh but i can't make very much and it can be quite expensive, out of the big bags of mince they do,which do you think's the best?
Thanks

I buy Waitrose Aberdeen Angus frozen mince which is quite good. Otherwise I get it from Donal Russell online. I really like their mince.

I am really fussy about mince. I am happy to pay what it takes to get quality as it can make or break a meak.

Oh the amount of meak's I've ruined like that :D

Seriously though I've never been impressed with any frozen mince and like whitesatin im also very fussy about mince, best thing to do is stock up on the best mince you can afford when its on special offer brown it maybe with a little onion and garlic then freeze it in portion sized amounts.

Sainsbury's SO organic lean beef mince 400g
Sainsbury's extra lean beef steak mince 500g
Sainsbury's Taste The Difference traditional beef mince 500g

    All 3 for £10 to 08/01/13

Tesco Healthy Living steak mince 500g
    Tesco beef steak mince 600g

    Both 2 for £7 or 3 for £10 to 15/01/13

The reason that cheap mince can often taste better than more expensive leaner mince IS because it has a higher fat content and therefore more flavour. We've all been taught that fat is the enemy and gives us heart disease and now research is proving that most fats are fine and that we should be more worried about sugar.

Thanks, ive got a batch of sheperds pie base in my slow cooker now.Ive seen these bags of mince in Farmfoods and wondered if they were worth buying.I'll probably stick to the mince i get from Sainsburys.
    Thanks again
  • The best of the cheap minces (fresh not frozen) I have come across is Sainsbury's basic. However, it's minced quite coarsely and needs to be cooked quite a bit longer for the best results. Perfect for slow cookers.

Lol, my sausage-like fingers are no good on this smartphone but I'm getting better.
