Howsie doodie
We currently have a wired PC and wireless laptop, PC is the host.
We are getting rid of the PC tommorrow and need to change the laptop over to be the host. Unfortunalty I have lost manual to tell me how to do this.
Any help?
I have a netgear router and both PC and LT are on XP.
Thanks

What exactly do you mean by host? e.g. is the router forwarding ports to the desktop for a web server?0

Your router is the boss, they both connect to it, admin can be accessed from any computer attached to the router.
Or what the hell are you talking about?
On the instructions when I got it, it said that only one is the host, and that is the only one that can access it. I dunno
So I take it it will be ok if i take the pc off then?Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
That doesn't sound right, unless it's a router only, and doesn't include a switch/hub (check how many ports it has). That's pretty unlikely though unless it's quite old. Most routers now incorporate a DSL modem (to get the internet connection), a router (to share it) and a switch/hub/wireless access point (to allow computers to connect to it). NB if you're on cable then your cable modem will be a separate unit.
Not sure where the host thing comes from, it doesn't make any sense in the context we're talking about.0
