                    Hello,
I am comtimplating the idea of getting a 2nd job for a couple of nights a week so I though maybe like a delivery driver for a takeaway, was just wondering if there are likely to be paid weekly and in cash??

I used to do this, it was cash in hand but nowdays most resturants (unless its somewhat dodgy) require you to have special insurance for take away driving. Its just not worth it as the pay doesnt even cover the petrol xDebt free once - Back again | Current debt: £2479.50 - January 2025 | Make £2025 in 2025 #11 - £41/£20250

Used to do it years ago when I had a company car... and a fuel card

I'll never forget my old boss getting in the car, having a sniff and asking if I'd had a curry in there.... yes, one or two.
Stick with the little places, and you're more likely to be able to negotiate a reasonable rate.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

I do it for dominoes. I get paid min wage every 4 weeks into my account. I get £1 a delivery cash in hand at the end of every shift. It's an easy job. I enjoy it and usually make about £12-£15 a shift. It costs me less than that in petrol so I'm making money out of my deliveries as well!starting debt of £16000
Current debt £9879
Debt free date currently feb 2014 although hoping to be free by dec 2013

Do you need business insurance for this? I currently have business insurance as my current job pays for petrol if it's to anywhere other than my usual place of work, would this insurance be sufficent?0 -

My interest is in the vehicular insurance, as most standard policies explicitly exclude hot food deliveries (along with racing, rallying etc), and I know of one local guy stopped by the police with a selection of meals on his back seat and they confirmed his insurance did not cover him.0

I did it Friday night for a local Chinese. Not worth it. Traveled 90 miles and came home with £42.50. But used nearly £20 of petrol.0
