Hi Addyboy, I am with santander and can pay what i like, although i just up my monthly payment. I have just switched to their 123 current account, costs £2 a month but you get 1% cashback on your santander mortgage payment every month, upto a mortgage payment of £1000. Plus the same on your council tax. worth thinking about
. good luck.

April is looking good though so hopefully will have overpaid in 2 out of the first 4 months of the year.

Another milestone in sight, OP'd £500 on 30th April so that's 2 OP's in the first four months of the year, I can see £69k in sight!
Had an expensive month again, OH's car tax, solicitors bill, couple of big birthdays for friends and family and am expecting a massive car bill next week so the next OP will likely be sometime in June.
Never thought cutting back a bit to OP mortgage would be fun, and it isn't; but it is satisfying!EX-DFW, NOW AN MFW!! O/S Mortgage = £71004 on 12/01/13 Overpaid 2013 = £1000

Hi well done on your overpayments.
I have just taken out a santander mortgage my first payment goes out on the 28th. I telephoned them on Thursday to ask about overpayments and the guy I spoke to said you didn't have to make a minimum overpayment of £500 as long as the payment was enough to reduce the mortgage term by a month.
He couldn't tell me what the minimum I could pay yet was because I haven't made my first payment but he told me to call back a few days after I had made the first payment and they would know.
It's maybe worth giving them a call to check.0 -
Hi!
At first I thought your username was Ladyboy1982!!!! :rotfl:
Well done on your first overpayments and becoming DF!
What I would say though is don't struggle to live to make your OP's, I think thats the key to maintaining long term motivation!0
