frozen mince in slow cooker

Options
bought fresh mince and froze it a week ago. Took it out of the freezer yesterday and put in fridge. I thought it had defrosted so put it in slow cooker but i noticed middle was still frozen. I chopped it up with a spoon and put it on high. I thought if i put it on high for a hour and give it a good stirr and drop to low until 5ish. Will it be ok? (its for kids tea).

Also can i freeze the cooked remains even though if was previously frozen (raw)

Yes and yes, in my opinion. I do chops in my slowcooker from frozen, on low all day and perfect by the evening.

Yes it should be fine. Mince tends to have plenty of spaces in the clumps that will enable it to defrost/cook quickly.

AFAIK , if you change the state of something you can re freeze it ie: if you freeze raw mince then cook it, you can re freeze the cooked mince HTH

Sorry to be someone who I normally don't like, putting my two pence in and telling people off, but you really need to be careful cooking meat. As the meat cooked from frozen will take much longer to get through the danger zone of temps to get to a safe temp which will kill the bacteria in the meat. This means that the bacteria will be in it's prime temperature zone for a lot longer and multiply a lot more. I know people will say that it's never hurt them, but please be careful, especially if serving young, elderly, or people who are already immune compromised.

    Thank you everyone!

I put it on high and checked after 30 mins and gave it good stir and it was all defrosted, children have now been fed and we have 3 tubs full in the freezer. :T
