I take it the repair peole didn't tell you the Admin password? i wouldn't know if he had or notHave you tried leaving the password blank or putting in the same as the user ID? hey - i left it blank and it worked, woo-hooo!!!! thanks Mr_Toad, such a help you are!!!:j:j:j:j
exactly, this is the same thing! but having left the password blank, it was accepted! does this mean I will enforce a new administrator on this as it appears that way, don't it?I think the OP is talking about this:

Which OS were you using? In Mountain Lion, if you have turned on icloud all your bookmarks should be saved anyway. Not sure whether you've the same feature is available in Lion.
If you were using Mountain Lion, all you've to do is turn on icloud and your bookmarks should be back.
And from now, please please back up your stuff. It's a lot easier using Time Machine (no need to buy the expensive Time Capsule from Apple). All you need is a USB external hard drive.0 -
Glad to have helped.
As an after thought which Mac have you got and how old is it?
I recently had the disk in my iMac replaced free of charge because Apple had found a potential problem even though it's out of guarantee.
The following gives the details;
