Calculating holiday entitlement

Hi

I have checked this years holiday entitlement (jan to dec).
According to the system its 150 hours.

However when I work it out via Gov.uk - Calculate holiday entitlement

The numbers do not add up. According to the calculator this is 168 hours. Thats 18 hours difference!

In addition I worked full time for 4 full calender years in which i e
incured 4 full days holiday bring my entitlement to 24 days + bank holidays. For last year I work part time 30 hours a week, and there fore I incured an 3.75 hours (1/2 day instead of 1 whole day).

What I would like to know is how much holiday I entitled to as I think my entitlement has been worked out incorrectly.

Thanks
Bekka

what does your contract say you get for holiday.

What hours go you work and what days

if part time what hours and days do full timers work.

if you get 24+BH then thats 6.4 weeks.

    You need to tell us:
What do full timers get for annual leave and bank holidays?
Do full timers work 37.5 hour weeks?
    What hours do you work?
Do you work the same number of hours every day?

Then we can work it out for you.

As you work the same five days a week then you are entitled to the same holidays ie 20 + BH albeit each day is shorter.

OK so you get 6.4 weeks 24+8

    30 * 6.4 = 192hrs.

You work the same number of days, so get 32 days' leave.

If you have to work it out in hours because the company does it that way, then 192 hours. And remember that when you take a day off, you're taking 6 hours, not the 7.5 that everyone else would - and that includes BHs.

So I agree with you (that they've calculated it wrongly).

  • quick question in going from full time to part time Do i get to keep the number of full time days i accured (4days) plus last year where i worked part time (+1 day or would that only be half a day) added to the 20 days?

I think you should get the extra days if they are service based.

Check the terms in the contracts/holiday policy and if it says otherwise question if it meets the part time legislation.

I would expect that you should receive the same holiday entitlement (in days) as the full-time workers.

As long as there wasn't a break in your employment between the full-time and part-time work, then you should continue to accrue the additional holiday.

Your holiday days are now made up of 6 hours each compared with the full-timers who have 7.5 hours for each day.
