Im really into kitchen gadgets as many of you are. ive looked at a yoghurt maker on lakeland and wondered of they worth it? how long does the yoghurt keep fresh free?

I've got the lakeland 1 litre maker and i have also owned and used the easiyo maker. The easiyo yoghurts are lovely, but i found we ate so much of it, it got quite costly, hence my purchasing the lakeland yoghurt maker.

I have found that the best results. - for us that means a nice thick yoghurt - have been obtained using long life milk, milk powder and a small amount of starter yoghurt in each batch. I start a batch up in the evening and by the next morning it is done and ready to be refrigerated. We haven't kept our yoghurt for a week as it is usually eaten by then!

I also have a 1 ltr yoghurt maker which is great. I use a spoonful of starter yoghurt and either skimmed or semi-skimmed long life milk, whichever I can get cheapest. Once the yoghurt is made I chill it in the fridge and then strain it through a j-cloth in a sieve to thicken it slightly. Absolutely yum.

I too have the electric one and love it. I found mixed results with the yogurt I made (Idon't like it too sour) but a small live pot from M&S makes a lovely one and lasts about 3 generations before I start with a new one again.
Incidentally I was in ~THE RANGE~ near Stockton on Tees today and the had easiyo yogurt at £1.99 to £2.89 per sachet or a box of 3 natural sachets for £3.99 when we got to the till the box of 3 went through at only £2

I have a Lakeland 1 litre yogurt maker and I love it and use it most days...now! When I first got it I struggled to make decent yogurt although I'd been successful using the slow cooker method before. I seriously considered returning it but have now cracked it and wouldn't be without it. You might find this thread of interest...http:/forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=1020885&page=5

I too have the lecci yogurt maker and have used it for approx 2 years and wouldn't be without it. I sometimes use the yogurt as a drink and add some flavours eg vanilla, strawberry, or as a straight yogurt and sometimes I put it through muslin and have a greek style yogurt. I believe you can also make cottage cheese but I haven't got round to this yet as the yogurt is always used up!

If anybody uses the EasyYo sachets it might be worth visiting the YorhurtDirect.co.uk website and signing up for their emails as from time to they have special deals and promotions on various yoghurt sachets.

I have the electric lakeland one but as I now have an Aga, I do not need it. Was going to get shut. If you want to pm me I will post it out to you but would appreciate if you could send me postage cost in stamps when you receive it. Don't want anything for it, just the postage would be nice and to know that it would be used and appreciated.

As mine is still boxed I have stuck it on the kitchen scales for you. Mine weighs 816 grams in the original box.
