Im a little confused, you have a lotus as a toy car you use every day and a focus you have as a work horse ??? when is the focus used ???
Logic would say to me if you want a toy save up, if you already have a form of transport to get you from a-b everyday .. use it.
Lets be honest a lotus is actualy built more like a toy its not really a every day high milage machine. If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

My focus is used by my wife to get to work every day (although I drop her off sometimes) and it's only 2 miles away.
It's also used if I take my dogs to the beach etc.
However my lotus (and previously my MG) would be used to get to work on the a twisty road every day (13 miles - very good drive) and also several nights a week when we go out for meals..0
