What's best to do???? New York trip

Hi all.

Just planning what to do on our planned trip to New York in 2 weeks.

Do you think it's best to buy one of the New York travel passes or to book it all separately on the web???

Which is the best pass to buy? We are going for 3 full days and 4 nights.

Any tips or hints would be great.

Thanks

Mark & Sam

My best bit of advice would be to choose one 'major' thing a day, do that and then hang around in that area for the rest of the day, go back to the hotel for a snooze, then go back out somewhere at night. The Rockerfeller Top of the Rock is a better buy than the Empire State IMHO for views. But you could do those 2 in the same day.

And if it's in 2 weeks, take plenty of warm clothes.

The best thing to buy would be your travel - subway and buses - I think there is a NYC thread on here that explains everything.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

My best advice for NYC is
    1) Don't try to cram as much as possible into a short trip as you'll just end up getting stressed, dashing around town and spending a lot of time in queues rather than soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying yourself.
    2) For a trip in the winter you are going to be dependant on the weather so be prepared for snow storms and travel delays.

We used the New York City Pass which came with a free guide book which we used more than the other book we had already paid about £10 for, the map in particular.
In a trip which was 3/4 days it proved to be value for money and so much easier to use than getting out the cash each time.
Needed a break on return as legs were throbbing from all the walking!
    Enjoy the trip.
  • You should pre book places like the Empire State building if you can as the queues can be 2-3 hours same with boat to Statue of Liberty. Not sure if you can go into the statue now but if you can numbers very limited so book in advance. We used the buses a lot and you can buy a pass to use on public transport which will save a lot of hassle. If you can pre pay any of these and can use quidco or even build up points on your credit card even better

i visited for 5 nights in Nov, and was the same, unsure what to do with passes and so on. Eventually we decided we would wait until we arrived, and on the first full day took the bus tour to get our bearings etc, then chose what we wanted to do and just went- visited the Empire State about 8pm and walked straight in, the same with the Rock at about 2pm, Tussauds, the Boat trip past the Liberty at about 10am, the only one attraction we queued was the 9/11 which we had pre booked. What i guess im trying to say is have a rough idea of what you want to do abd then just take it from there depending on where you are at what time of day-i was pleasantly suprised at how easy it is to visit everywhere and found myself doing it at leisure rather than restricted to having the passes and having to do something......enjoy!!
