'Super' Collision Damage Waiver (Italy)

Hi
Have booked a hire car with Hertz for 3 weeks time. I am somewhat wary of the high extra cost for Super Collision Damage Waiver. Has anyone found a cheaper way around this? An independent broker of some sort? A way to add it to some existing cover I have?
Suggestions welcome

Hi,
Italy is an expensive place for car insurance. Excess waiver is so expensive as excess can be between £1000 to £1500 in the event your car is damaged or stolen.
Avis is normally the best for a nil excess in Italy.
