Men's long underwear

The plain cotton longjohns I bought from Primark some years ago is wearing a bit thin.

What is the current state of the art in terms of thermal long underwear. I tried looking for fleece long underwear, and couldn't find simple fleece longjohns. I bought the "ski thermal underwear from Aldi the other week, and while they're warm, the slinky material feels a bit odd.

On Amazon, they have some "transpire fleece" long underwear by a company called 'Reed'. I have some of their produces for aquatic purposes and they are very effective. But £40 or so for a set of long underwear is quite a bit. But not necessarily not worth it, depending on how good they are.

I don't wear wool, and hence the merino long underwear sold by Aldi recently (or from other sources) are not an option.
