Got fed up with this after a month or so, so rang them again, asked why it can't be simpler, and now just have an additional £100 on top of my regular payment going out by standing order which comes off the capital (I have double checked this with them).
Not sure why they couldn't do it this way to start with...
Ended up doing this too...
Before commiting myself I triple checked I could go back to the std payment at anytime...
Guess what... when I asked to go back to the std payment sometime later they said no...!!!
Go figure???

Hello
I had the exact same problem with Santander and despite having online banking am unable to see my mortgage balance!!! I dont see why you have to pay online and then call them so like others I send a cheque to them with a covering letter saying this is to reduce the balance and please do not reduce my DD. I've not had any problems doing it this way so far and they do confirm in writing.0 -
I thought Santander mortgages had a minimum op of £500? Is that only valid for one off payments? Sorry I have a rental property that I would like to make a small op but don't want to spend £500 as our home is the priority.
