i'm thinking of making it a monthly family trip. Its about 1 mile to our local Natwest branch and there is also a grocers, butchers, pub and cafe there. I was thinking on a saturday at the end of the month we'd all take a walk, overpay and have one small treat as a well done for the OP like a coffee, a beer or something. That'd make overpaying a family event literally and it might entice her some more.
Good idea!:T0 -
A few years ago my OH thought it was just a hair brained scheme of mine and laughed it off. He always liked his designer clothes and liked to spend money. Now quite a few years down the line he can see the end in sight and is quietly glad I carried on with my daft scheme.
In fact last night I told him about a good deal on suits for work and told him to have a look and I would order one (I searched for more discount codes and cashback rates of course:D), I was gobsmacked when he had a quick look and said "pay the £200 I was going spend on the suit off the mortgage".
I then realised he is a changed man! Mortgage has got about 18mths left to run hopefully.
Seriously, at the beginningof overpaying I asked what he would most like in the word and he said "A Mark 3 Cortina to remind me of my youth". I said ok, go along with my plan and in a few years you can have it - simple - bribery works well but usually more so with men:rotfl:

Ah - didn't take long for that sexist chestnut to come out
Not picking an argument for its own sake, but there are plenty of chaps who don't need to be bribed... much0 -

And there's also plenty of women that do need to be bribedI think it's more of an individual thing than a gender thing tbh

She had no choice, i pay the mortgage, and the overpayments, without it effecting her money! She does however realise that once the mortgage is paid off, and she's passed her ACCA exams, we'll be able to have a better life, and be in a position to support our little daughter with whatever life throws at her. 35 months to go!!0
