The Works 50p items in sale

popped into town earlier and saw that The Works are advertising that there is only a few days left on their sale. They have Christmas stock on 'bogof' and a 50p section full of books and I also saw a few toys and asda memories kit (clay kit for kids). Didn't have time to stop and go through in detail, but books looked in good condition and noticed some of the original prices were £15 upwards. will head back tomorrow when I have more time to spare!

  • I went into The Works, P'boro yesterday after being drawn inside by the rack of "goodie bags" they had outside the store, some with craft materials, some with gifts for girls, some for boys, and some with fiction books inside. The bags were all £1 each, regardless of contents, but the book ones contained at least three, good quality paperbacks, the girl's gift bags ( I didn't buy a boy's one as no boys in the family) contained a selection of five or six gifts, including a large card book of the "little mermaid story" ( not Disney) a fuzzy felt-esque classroom scene, a Hannah Montana activity book, a Justin Bieber large eraser, a Sleeping Beauty keyring in a vacuum pack with cardboard sleeve, and a little flower fairy type story book. I am putting some aside for my niece for Christmas next year, and the younger bits for my step-niece-in-law (?) Haha.

I was impressed with the contents of the craft bags too- card blacks and toppers/embellishments, stickers, jewel stickers, iron on transfers, cutting wheels for a Helix card embellishing board I have been looking at buying, glitter glue, fabric paint, some 3D flower making thing, craft scissors, ribbons, sequins/bean packs etc. I would say each bag was worth about £20-25 according to how much the original prices of the items would have been. I bought three, as I used up a lot of my card making stock over Christmas, making cards and decorating gifts.

Also, as OP mentioned there was a lot of Christmas stuff still there in the sale, mostly HP and B1G1F. I got table confetti in red and gold, 49p each and B1G1F, a pack of 8 flat pack gift boxes with a nice snowy Father Christmas scene on the front, bit flimsy but good for jumpers or lighter delicate things you wouldn't want to damage, for £1.49 and 99p respectively. I also got a fabric Santa sack, again not the most durable but quite sweet, with reindeer and bells on the front for 99p again. I got a book on superheroes/ supervillains for OH's stocking for 50p, one on a "dogs guide to life" cartoon book for his mum, also 50p and a few assorted bits, I can't remember exactly what, for his nieces stockings for 10p or 25p each, little stickers/rubbers/notebooks.bubbles etc I spent under a tenner and came away with two massive bagfuls of stuff - the SA couldn't believe it! :D

OP, are you talking about "This works" or "The Works"? They are two different places!
