I've also posted in motoring, but this is Northern Ireland specific...sometimes answers for MOT can be different depending on location.
Nowadays is an electric window not working an automatic MOT fail...the cables have apparently just gone "pop"....
MOT is in Northern Ireland in a few days time...repair time including parts delivery could take up to a fortnight....
Any advice?

No two ways about this one: Anything Free is not a Basic Right..it had to be earned...by someone, somewhere

Have to say that any time I've taken a car through I've never noticed them testing the windows so I doubt it's a requirement especially as it's not a safety issue, just an inconvenience at ticket barriers, IRA roadblocks etc...0

At the MOT yesterday, they do not test the electric windows0

The 'new stuff' that they test is basically catching up with the manufacturers. Any warning lights on the dashboard will raise suspicion but that would be an ABS, traction control, emmissions, engine management etc etc type of problem rather than windows.0

My mother has the same problem with her car. Two garages (main dealer and auto electrics garage) have assured her that the electric window will not be tested as part of the MOT test.Norn Iron Club Member 3300

Maybe I should have let this go but...:o
Are you sure it's not a 'fleg' roadblock you mean? :rotfl:Mac0 -
Nope windows are not part of the check, you can see whats listed here http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/index/information-and-services/motoring/owning-a-vehicle/mot.htm0

Though you'd be better arriving with the window open to hand the tester your documents etc I reckonNorn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0
