Reducing the commuting cost!!

do you think all your "compo" comes from? It's from the same high fares that we all pay and you love to complain about.
excuse me but its not my fault that some train companies make generous passenger charters or decide to dish out the compo vouchers like confetti.
my train journey today medium distance to watch football. within 40mins the train toilet brokecompo my way i thought. then the toilet overflowed and stunk the whole carriage out
packed train nowhere to go defo compo
all i hoped now was for a rude staff member just to make sure it was 100% compo claim. but the staff member was really good and i cudnt fault him even dished out compo form to the passengers and help some fill them out. ++ to himFares Advisor & Oyster Specialist - Newdeal/ukRail Fares Workshop Accredited0 -
Isn't the passenger charter something that it is negotiated during the franchising process? I'd like to believe that the train operators are being generous but can't believe that's the case.
Anyway I'm sure that the meagre amount of compensation paid out to passengers pales into insignificance in comparison to the huge profits and waste across the rail industry.
Good luck to Geordie Taxi in claiming any compensation he or she gets: as a passenger they deserve it!0 -

thank you :T had letter back today acknowledging my complaint so in a couple of days should be a load of compoFares Advisor & Oyster Specialist - Newdeal/ukRail Fares Workshop Accredited0 -
Re the cycling lesson, definitely do it! You could even ask for help to plan the route and the instructor to ride it with you.
For anyone else considering cycling in London or already doing it and wanting to know if there's anything you can improve upon, please consider having a lesson. There is always something you can learn and the more demand there is for lessons the more likely the authorities are to continue to put money into it.
Virtually every London borough offers free or heavily subsidised cycle training to people who live work or study in their area. If you are not sure go through TfL's webform and they will pass you on to the relevant borough https://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/roadusers/cycling/request-cycle-training.aspx
Happy cycling all0 -

compo arrived today £65 for a £94 fare. not bad for the price of a stamp and a bit of time.
to all other passengers most train companies are offering compo due to the bad weather so get those delay repay forms inFares Advisor & Oyster Specialist - Newdeal/ukRail Fares Workshop Accredited0 -
Has anyone actually had any success in claiming compensation for no available seats / overcrowding ?0

why would you get compensation for overcrowding? It's par for the course on many many trains0

yes but only with certain train companies. wot i do is book a seat on busy train then see somebody sitting in my seat. go see the guard and complain. the lazy guard just wants to read his newspaper without hassle so just endorses my ticket then all ive got to do is send it into these blokes and compo is mine

Interesting....
Is it only East Coast who offer the seat guarantee scheme? Why doesn't the guard just say ask the other passenger to move?0 -

not to sure the only time ive got compo from other train companies is when the train has been missing a few coaches and one of the missing coaches has my reservation. quick complaint letter and i get some compo vouchersMids_Costcutter wrote: »why doesn't the guard just say ask the other passenger to move?
I think its conflict avoidance. easier for the guard to endorse the ticket than risk getting a slap off a passenger for moving them on a rammed trainFares Advisor & Oyster Specialist - Newdeal/ukRail Fares Workshop Accredited0
