Just a quick question. Completely forgot to get mince out of the freezer ready for tea. We were planning on tacos as will use up some of the salad and jar of salsa I have.
Can I defrost it in the microwave or even cook it from frozen? Didn't want to have to go and buy some.

you could but I've always found it has a tendency to get hot spots/start cooking
What I would do is fry the mince slowly turning frequently & scraping off the bits that have browned & it'll start to break up after a while & you can fry as usual

That's what I do as well. If you keep the heat low you can stop it browning too much. Turn it frequently though and keep scraping the defrosted bits off.0 -

You could cut down on the washing up too if you cook the onions and any other stuff along with it in the frying pan. Mince will create its own fat for cooking, in fact you'll probably find you have to decant a lot of that away (I do anyway - I like to keep the fat content of the meal as low as possible. When you're ready to run simply add some premixed gravy to it and hey presto - one meal! :cool:0 -
I have fried mince from frozen - you just scrape off the bits as they cook and move them to the side of the pan, and turn the lump of mince as it browns.
I don't like to microwave it as I find it goes rubbery.0
