I'll consider a 19" monitor when they do better than 1280 x 1024. The 17" TFT's I have are easy enough to see, so 19" just makes the dots bigger. What I want is more on the screen.
p.s. for those still with glass screens a 17" lcd is similar to a 19" glass monitor in viewable area.

True if you only use your PC for work - but when watching films where you are a distance from the PC, the larger the screen the better. Until HDTV arrives in the UK, resolution is pretty immaterial for such purposes. There is also the issue of gaming, very few graphic cards are capable of driving modern games at resolutions of 1600 X 1200 (or higher).
