I have owned my own property for four years and have never defaulted on the mortgages payments. My existing mortgage is with Standard Life on a variable rate. I want to change and find a fixed rate or a better deal but have one CCJ against me which was cleared within two months of my getting it. I am also self employed and my earnings on paper will not qualify me for the 64K mortgage that I need. I earn cash and therefore my accounts do not reflect my earnings. Where do I start ?

Firstly by getting your accounts to reflect your earnings and stop committing tax evasion.
