Anyone tell me please if this is good/bad/average for solar energy production

Our panels were fitted on the 28th of Feb last year so that is just over 10 months and the 20 panels have generated 2944kwh so far.

Wonder if there is any sites where you can get an idea of how well or not your solar energy produced compares with elsewhere.
12 panels south facing,8 panels south-east facing,4KWP system,pitch 40 degrees,Aurora inverter & location is sunny Glasgow.

  • That's in the right ballpark for generation. Depends on direction of roof-facing and angle of roof.

    Plug your numbers in here.

  • Hi Birnam, I'm just down the road from you in not so sunny Ayrshire and last calendar year I made 3344 kwh off 3.75kwh of panels:)

Hi Birnam, Had our panels installed a week before you and we're on 3010 so far. I think 3100 would be realistic for our first year.
I also heard that 2012 was the second wettest on record. Since rain comes from clouds and cloud affects PV output I am hoping that 3100 is below average. Running the numbers over 25 years, using 3100 as an average and assuming 3% inflation. I was surprised to see a cash return of £52k!
Quite a bit better than I was expecting. :j
4kW PV System installed 21/2/12: Aurora Power One 3.6 Inverter
    11x 250w panels West; 5x 250 panels East.
On course for 19.8% ROI in Year 1.
    Immersun installed 13/9/12

Yes, it makes a Cash ISA look a bit lame. :j

Wow....two systems connected to the one export meter then ?
More daylight hours in Inverness in spring/summer contributing to your high export figures or more your 26 panels ?

  • BB, try using PVGIS for output estimates ( yearly/monthly etc.)
