Computer won't load in Normal mode

windows repair first from the original disc or fresh install as it sounds like your registry/system files are corrupted and failing to load - safe mode works though. i had this exact same problem a few yrs ago and even the windows repair wouldn't work. luckily i had all my stuff backed up on an ext HDD so i just lost a few hours re-installing everything.
firstly, i would also try running some anti spyware/malware removers within safe mode and a virus scan - with the safe mode with networking you can download super antispyware, install and run that and also avg 2013 free if you don't have anti virus. may be a malware thats stopping your system from running.
hopefully windows repair will work for you but don;t be suppprised if it doesn't and a fresh install is needed. if your system will allow it, maybe worth upgrading to win 7/8??0 -
I have reached the end of my tether
I tried a repair install, it didn't complete.
I tried a full install, several times, and each time I do it, it gets to the "Installing devices" part, which is roughly 34 minutes remaining, and every time, the screen goes black and the installation appears to finish. If you restart the sytem, it then starts again. But always goes black at about 34 minutes remaining, each and every time.
I have tried resetting the CMOS, I have tried removing RAM.
I am literally at the end of my tether. I am so desperate to get this fixed.
Motherboard is an EP-8RD3AI
Ram is 1GB
128mb ati radeon 9200 (agp)
Will give anybody who can help me get this working, a £10 reward via paypalLive for what tomorrow has to bring, not what yesterday has taken away0 -

An interesting problem.
Is the graphics card the original unit (as supplied) or was it a subsequent upgrade ?
If the motherboard has some sort of basic on board graphics (I had a quick Google and couldn't easily find out) then I would try an install with that.
Assuming you don't also have other hardware not mentioned, you are down to so few devices that it is hard to see why a clean install wouldn't complete, the graphics card is the only thing I would wonder about.
If you have any other spare hard disk, assuming you haven't reformatted the original disk I would also try an install using a spare hard disk. If there is stuff on the original disk you would also get a chance to subsequently recover it as well if you did a clean install on a different disk.0 -
Clean boot it. See what - when enabled - doesn't allow logon in normal mode.

I'd eliminate a failing hard drive by trying to install with a known working drive.
Otherwise I'm guessing that it's a motherboard issue? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I would try removing any sound, modem etc cards, including the graphics card if your motherboard has onboard graphics, so your system is as simple as possible. And then do a clean install and replace the cards one, by one.0
