Hello all. In the hope of a spring/summer to come I've done the course and now thought of buying a canoe to explore the rivers of our Sceptered Isle with my sons...however they 'somewhat expensive' to say the least. I've seen plans on eBay and books on Amazon re building simple boats from ply and would be prepared to give a basic one a go. But I don't want to waste money on something that might require Noah as a partner. Can anyone recommend a beginner set of plans & building manual?

Have you thought of asking on freecycle? Even for something that needs repairing.

Local ads / preloved/ gumtree may be worth a look as well.
