Greetings from Munich, egon. Our car normally comes back full of squash (that's the real bulk volume/weight-wise), frozen bacon and sausages, tea, maybe a sneaky ale or cider to fill up the gaps, and, of course, Cadbury's. :j

This sounds about right. We know the owners of Weston Ciders..... usually more than a bottle comes back with us.
We are going to have a english breakfast with ca 15 friends on the first weekend in february... All our supply will be gone thenI wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -
I have now paid again the 350 Euro towards the mortgage, which the bank has refunded us.
Today, I also received my pay slip. I now get 14 Euro more a month.
I will splitt the money between our building fund and my private pension fund.
I also have to re-do the budget, as a lot of the insurance etc for this year have come in and the amount have changed. Some spreadsheet funI wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -
This week just got worse!
We had a burst warm water pipe for 4 days!:mad::eek:
We thought, it was boiler not working properly.
We lost so much water and had to pay so much gas.....
I hate it!!!!
Just have to find out now, if the insurance will cover some of the cost. Luckely, the house wasn't damaged as much.
I still haven't sorted the budget yet, need to focus on this the coming week.
On the fun side, we had a full english breakfast this morning, to which we invited some friends (some of which never had an english breakfast before!). :T

A month has gone by, without posting.
I updated on the MFin3 challenge. We are on track there.
All money that can be saved this year, will go into our building funds. We still have to sort out the ground floor of our house.
I am hoping that the weather will turn warmer soon. I want to start planting and growing some of our own veg. This week, I will start on sowing indoors.
The kids are on school holiday for the next 2 weeks. The first week, they will go the after school club, so hubby has lots of time finishing off the odd jobs.
The following week, they will go to my parents for a few days. Some free time for hubby and myself :j
By the looks of it, we will get back Euro 1700 from the tax man. We then will pay off the accountant and the rest will also go into our building fund.
I have started to sort a new account for us. Unfortunately, here in Germany there are not many accounts, which pay for having money in them. Most will charge you for the accounts.
I have found one now and applied. See how things go......
I am very annoyed with myself. I have forgotten to sort out the european insurance cover. So now I have to pay the "old" one for another year. I know there are better and cheaper ones out there.
Nothing I can do now!
Hubby is looking for a job over here now. He is not enjoying staying at home with the kids. The biggest issue for him is the language barrier. I told him, to be patient, as it might take a while for him to find anything.
We also had some more news on DS1 "illness". They have set up more therapy and we are doing a lot of work with him at home. Unfortunately, we can't find a psychologist over here, as they all booked up until at least summer.
I have challenged myself to find him one and get him booked in. This has to be sorted asap!!!
Better go and look at the spreadsheet, to see, where else we can save/ Change things.
Everyone have a nice weekend!

Having to spend lots of extra money at the moment.
Our electricity supplier has gone bankrupt.
Our little son wants to do moto cross and other doctor bills have to be paid.
This really messes with our bills at the moment!I wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -
I have been off the OS way for a while now.
I so want to get back on track. The MFiT challenge does help to at least keep track of the mortgage. But I must admit, that I have no oversight.
My next step right now is, to get back on track.I wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -
So, I am sitting here tonight and have to check out, what has to be done next. It is starting to be quiet a list.
Sort out birthday invites for DS1
Sort out overnight stay party for DS 1
Cancel all unnecessary memberships by 30th September
Tax Return for 2013
Find credit for building works
There is lots more to do.... but I have to start somewhere.I wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -
DS1 party went down well. The kids had fun and we didn`t spend much money. DH commented, that it was the most relaxing and cheapest party so far! He even went out after the night treasure hunt. He was chuffed, that the rugby team he coaches had won. :T
I have cancled the two memberships so far. I need to check out, if there is anything else lurking around, which is draining our money and we actually don`t need.
To be able to do the tax return, I have to sort all the paperwork first. That will take a while. It is all in a big pile, which I am good at ignoring.
To get the morgage down, I will also save €10 a month towards overpayment on the mortgage. This is achievable. And when I have more of an overview, I can up it.
I am still waiting for the quote on the building work. The builder phoned me last week, that he is still waiting on the cost for the underfloor heating. I can`t wait to get the quote. We really want to get on with the building work. We habe been living on a building site for three years and I can`t wait for it to be finished!!!!
We also had to change our working hours. DS1 has a heavy depression with agressive behaviour. He is usually in after school care until no later then 4pm. But they are struggeling with him and told us, that he is not welcome anymore.
I am just lucky, that the boss agreed for me to change the hours I work.I wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -
I have been a little more productive today.
The stones for the garden are ordered and will be delivered on friday.
I also changed our gas supplier. This should be another saving of ca Euro 300 a year.
I wish there was a similar website in Germany to "Moneysavingexpert"...
Oh... maybe something to set up, when my finances are sorted???? Definitely something to think about ...
DH is going to the UK for a long weekend. He will have to pop into Mr. T for a big shop!!! I am sooooooooooooo looking forward to all the english treats :T:rotfl::jI wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0
