You have to find a way to take your lunch break. You need to get away from your desk, you're not paid for that hour and you have to claim any additional time you work over & above your contracted hours.

Where I work my colleague rarely takes a lunch break, she sits at her desk and eats while she works. I insist on taking my lunch hour, luckily we have a place I can sit & eat in peace, which I do. I feel my employers frown about it as it does seem to me that it's not the 'done thing', tough, I am not paid for that hour and if I'm asked to take a half an hour I do but I leave half an hour early.

I've had to be quite assertive about this but now they accept it, so you need to do the same, you can be assertive without being aggressive and they will soon get used to it.

I'm really curious, do you work in a lion enclosure??
    hahaha

Quite enjoyed that. However, there are some places where you walk out of and you don't really want to deal with the public.

This is the norm at the moment. Once the economy is back on its feet hopefully things will get better. Have you spoken with your agency about it? They might be glad of the commission on the extra hours too!
