I was shocked too that they don't include a charger - you can however use a Dsi charger if you are upgrading to sve buying one for th 3DS XL

Great news. Was a little worried as today is the last day to register and I had been having trouble with recieving the prompt for the free game.

    Thanks

Remember to register it as below and you get a free game, some of which are worth £30.

With its 90% bigger screens, improved battery life and more SD Card storage space, there are plenty of great reasons to buy Nintendo 3DS XL… and now you can get a free download game from Nintendo eShop too with our winter promotion!
Register a Nintendo 3DS XL with Club Nintendo by January 15th, 2013 and you'll be eligible to claim one of five top Nintendo 3DS titles to download from Nintendo eShop. Then, once you've downloaded your game directly to your Nintendo 3DS XL system, you'll be able to take it with you wherever you go!
The five games you can choose from as part of this offer are:
    Super Mario 3D Land
    Nintendo presents: New Style Boutique
    New Art Academy
    Freakyforms Deluxe Your Creations, Alive!
Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask

Wow, thanks for this. DD bought an XL quite a few months ago and I have just managed to retrieve the box with all the paperwork to register it! Let's hope I can get her a free game, love freebies ;)!

Thanks for the info re: registration/free game. I've just registered my son's 3dS XL which he got for xmas but it didn't say anything anywhere about a free game? Do you just receive a code? I've received the email to confirm registration. Also, my son's 3DS has Mario Kart 7 pre-installed. If I do manage to get a code for a free game, will downloading one have any effect on the pre-installed game?

    TIA :)

No, it has no effect. The 3DS can hold several downloaded games.

  • How do we download a game to the DS? Via a desktop or laptop computer? :o With a cable? The DS did not come with any cables, that's why I'm asking :o:o:o.

Hmmm, I hadn't even thought of that! That would've been my next post once I'd received the code :o

Hopefully someone who has already done it will explain how it's done (in very, very simple terms for my benefit )

    TIA :)

The 3DS is a wireless device and can connect to your wireless broadband (assuming you have it). Games can be downloaded from the Nintendo shop. There is quite a lot of free content available too (game trailers, etc).
