Has someone applied for a loan in my name?
Firstly, hi all! I created an account to ask this question because I'm kind of concerned at this point.
I've just received a phonecall from a company called 'back on track' informing me that I have been declined for a loan. Now, I've never heard to this company nor have a applied for any loans or finance. The guy insisted on trying to ask me a series of 'qualifying questions' regarding my debts (nothing except student loans) and credit ie. phone/electricity bills. He also asked how much my bills were (I didn't tell him). I gave no info apart from to say that I don't want and didn't apply for a loan.
Only now I'm really concerned that someone has applied in my name. I don't know what I can do to find out if this is the case? I assumed the bank can't tell me. I've just signed up for free 30-day trial at CreditExpert to see my credit report, but I have to wait for a pin to arrive through the post (to an address I'm currently away from.)
I'm hoping that it was a bluff and he was just hoping I'd answer the questions and agree to a loan but... Does anyone have any experience with this company? Or know how I can find out if anything is going on?
Sorry for the long post!

The only way to really be sure is to check the 3 CRA's (Experian, Equifax and Call Credit) and see if there have been any credit searches against your name.
Often those are cold calls however simply hoping to lure you into applying for a high interest/pay day loan or to get the "admin fee" from you.0 -
I would ignore it. They are an American outfit calling people randomly to glean information

Most likely your details regarding your debt (if you had given them) would have ended up with some scumbag CMC vermin.

Thanks! I'm hoping it's just a random cold call & am glad you guys think so too. Glad I didn't give out any info. The call got me pretty spooked haha.0
