I've just looked in my contract - it says:

    Allowances
The vehicle user classification for this post is regular, you are contractually required to provide a vehicle for business purposes. You will be reimbursed for the use of this vehicle in accordance with the mileage rates quoted in the expenses policy.

Looks like thats what you signed up for - what do you do for a living?

pmd about the last ? as concerned about privacy. But it is a council policy and on reflection does seem a bit rubbish if its in the contract to have a car and you can't claim the essential allowance - I might question it with HR.

When I spoke to CCCS now stepchange, they said any DMP under 5 years was good and the average was 7 to 10 years.

Last I saw they quoted an "average" of "five years, two weeks and five days".

Thanks Fermie, yes they said mine would probably take about 5 years (which would have been okay really, as the defaults would have fallen of my credit file by then too). But having to factor in a new car now - so I'll have do some more sums! But I have a little more hope than I did before, due to the advice everyone has been so kind to give here....

    Hi Fermi

I was just repeating what I was told over the phone 3 years ago. I thought it was a bit excessive at the time but maybe they just said that to make me feel better, cos I was pretty low at the time.
