move mortgae but has had mortgage protector pay intrest for last 6 months

hi out there .sorry first time on a form....
ok
have fixed rate mortgage at 5.45% ish . fixed until middle of 2014..
hubby made redundant due to illness..june this yearhubby unlikely to be going back to work at all.
luckly had mortgage interest protector(only pays for a year)..has helped loads
.now looking to move mortgage to better rate..
my question is can i???
I know can get some sort of help from goverment but really don't want to do that.
l know should just phone bank to find out but ,just can't face it..
if anyone knows where for me to start. would be much appricated

Once the help runs out then that's it. You will not be able to remortgage without an income.
Why don't you want to claim help from the government? It will pay 3.63% of the capital every year which in your case should cover most of the interest. You will need to find the other 1.82% yourself or negotiate with your mortgage provider to allow the interest to capitalize.....depends on how much equity you have as to whether they'll do that and for how long.:footie:

i'm currently working 25 hours a week. how do i apply to get help from the goverment. sorry really got no idea .what to do for the best.
now going to go on goverment website to see how it get started.
