I have been using a little stove top pot for the last 2 years and it makes lovely coffee.
Whittards currently have 50% off everything and I bought a new one yesterday for £6.0 -

i'm looking to buy a coffee maker, only i don't like coffee or know anything about it!
I'd like something that makes proper coffee (not the pod things) but not a bean grinder..
Am happy to pay around £100 for something really good, but preferably small cause it'll only be making 1 cup espresso most of the time and i had a family sized one that we never used cause it was a killer to clean for 1 cup.
Am liking la pavoni but not the prices...any ideas what to look for, where to start, or even brand names etc to avoid.
xx
Grinder etc is great but if you are only making one cup a day thats a lot of hassle. Anything that uses pre ground coffee out of bag tin etc will also not be great as you won't be using the grounds quickly enough.
I would suggest 'Nespresso'. Although a capsule machine it's not like the pods that are sold in supermarkets. The Nespresso pods make real espresso and are available in varying strengths and tastes plus some decaffinated varieties. Capsules easily ordered by freephone or online, quick delivery works out about 23p a cup.
John Lewis sell a basic Magimix M200 machine at £139 which would be perfect for your 'casual use' and are also offering a £40 cash back deal right now bringing it in at your budget.
I have used Nespresso for a few years but drink a lot more than one cup a day and have never had a bad cup, wholly recommend.
Hope this is helpful.0 -
I've recently become a convert to illy - a bit hyped and expensive - even it Italy, but a very nice coffee. Another new favorite is Caffè Vergnano, but again like trying to find Hen's teeth in the uk.0

Does anyone know whether Dolce Gusto capsules fit in a Magimix machine?
They are Nespresso, aren't they?
thanks.0
