Posted this on the bargain board but did not realise there was a freebie board which is where this is probably better placed?!
If you have an android phone / tablet (e.g. galaxy s3/kindle fire etc) you can download the amazon appstore (think of it as a mini play store) to get a free app a day.
I have used it for a few days now and got a few decent games for free (chu chu rocket, world of goo, edge).

Not clear how long this promotion goes on for - website suggests 6th of jan but let's wait and see.

The Amazon Appstore has been doing free apps for months so I don't expect they'll be ending any time soon. I've had a lot of good games and the occasional useful app from their daily freebies since I've been using them.0

If you have an Android based phone you can get 1 free app per day that woild normally cost you. All you have to do is install the Amazon App Store app on your phone (free) create an Amazon account (free) if you don't already have one and then use the app each day where you are offered a premium app (pre-selected by Amazon). You can even install the app on all of your android devices and register them all to the same account and install any of the apps you've got from them on any of your devices. I've been using this for several months now and I've saved loads of cash getting apps I would have bought for free.0
